Pick City is off to a 3-3 start to the season in college football, and we’re back with four more plays for Saturday. We also have a three-team, 10-point teaser of the week.
4* Georgia/Notre Dame under 57
This pick is based solely off of the visiting Georgia Bulldogs. Kirby Smart returned 10 starters off of a defense that ranked 16th nationally in total defense in 2016. They got off to a great start last week holding a solid Appalachian State team to under 300 total yards and only 10 points in a 31-10 victory. True freshman quarterback Jake Fromm played well after starting quarterback Jacob Eason went down with an injury in the first quarter, and the true freshman will be making his first start on the road in South Bend in primetime. I believe Smart will play a little conservative on offense to protect his young quarterback and allow his defense to control the game. The under has hit 15 times in Georgia’s last 21 games, and seven times in their last 10 non-conference games. The Pick City Pick: Under 57
3* Oregon -13.5
I do not care who your opponent is; if you can rack up over 700 yards of offense and 77 points in one game then that gets my attention. That is exactly what Oregon did last week in coach Willie Taggart’s debut vs Southern Utah. Quarterback Justin Herbert and running back Royce Freeman are as good of a tandem as anyone in the country. Nebraska was outgained at home last week to Arkansas State as they gave up almost 500 total yards to the Red Wolves. Traveling to Eugene to face the Ducks’ high powered offense spells trouble for the Cornhuskers. The Pick City Pick: Oregon 45, Nebraska 24.
3* West Virginia -24
East Carolina gave up over 400 yards rushing and 600 yards total to JAMES MADISON last week in a 34-14 loss at home. West Virginia’s high powered offense put up almost 600 total yards against a good Bud Foster Virginia Tech defense last week in a 31-24 loss. This is also the home opener for the Mountaineers. Need I say more? The Pick City Pick: West Virginia 56, East Carolina 20.
The Diet Cole Special: 2* UTSA +17
Baylor gave up 585 total yards and 48 points last week in a loss to LIBERTY. Baylor is also 2-6 against the spread in its last 8 games. Texas San Antonio’s opener with Houston was cancelled last week due to Hurricane Harvey. UTSA returns 14 starters off a team that went to a bowl game in 2016. One of those starters is senior quarterback Dalton Sturm who scored 24 touchdowns and threw only six interceptions a year ago. UTSA has the talent to keep this game close, and maybe even win the game straight up in Waco. The Pick City Pick: Baylor 44, UTSA 41.
College Football Teaser of the Week
A three-team, 10-point teaser pays out -110. So, you’d risk $110 to win $100, and you have to win all three games to win.
Penn State -12.5 (from -22.5)
Oregon -3 (from -13)
N.C. State -13.5 (from -23.5)
